We work hard to get things right the first time, and we still make mistakes. When that happens, we fix them quickly and we say so.
What we correct
Factual errors are corrected as soon as we confirm them: wrong figures, misattributed quotes, incorrect dates, names or statistics. For a material error, the article carries a note describing what changed and when. Minor fixes such as typos or formatting are made silently.
Updates are not corrections
Records change hands and history keeps being made. When new information extends a page rather than contradicts it, for example a record being broken, we update the article and refresh its modified date. A correction notice is reserved for cases where something we published was wrong.
Report an error
If you believe something we published is inaccurate, write to [email protected] with a link to the article and a short description of the problem. A source helps us move faster. We read every report and we reply when a correction is made.
